Webheath Academy Primary School is a two-form entry primary school in Worcestershire and a member of the Shires Multi Academy Trust. With a diverse cohort of learners, including pupils with special educational needs, those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and a significant number of reluctant writers, the school has been on a determined journey to raise attainment and build genuine confidence in writing across the whole school.
“My class of 29 children have received over 10,000 pieces of feedback and made over 15,000 improvements to their writing in response to the feedback. That’s 15,000 improvements that may not have taken place otherwise, because there's only one of me.”
This case study brings together the voices of teachers and pupils from across the school, from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 6. Hear from the Webheath Academy staff about their experience embedding Writer's Toolbox school-wide and how their pupils have transformed their relationship with writing.
“The child has to do the fixing, it just tells them where to look.”
