    School highlight: Heasandford Primary School

    By Writer's Toolbox
    Published 01 January, 1800

Heasandford Primary School, a large and diverse primary school in Lancashire, England, is one of the UK's early adopters of Writer's Toolbox. With a significant proportion of pupils for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL), developing secure sentence structure and writing confidence has long been one of the school's most pressing challenges — and its greatest opportunity.

"It's putting the excitement back into writing"

This case study brings together the voices of teachers and pupils from across the school, from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Year 6. A collection of staff share their experience with embedding the programme across the whole school. Their pupils speak with geniune enthusiasm about how Writer's Toolbox has changed the way they think about, and feel about, writing.

Key themes explored include the impact of AI-powered instant feedback, the role of the Sentence Train in building foundational skills from the earliest stages of learning, how a shared language around sentence styles has transformed confidence in English lessons, and why pupils now actively look forward to writing across the curriculum.
